Earthquake-Resistant Building Material is Obligatory: SMBR Relief Commissioner

LAHORE: On March 24, 2023, SMBR Relief Commissioner for Punjab Nabeel Javed reportedly urged the line departments to use earthquake-resistant materials in newly built Punjab structures to reduce the damage brought on by earthquakes.

On his visit to the command center of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Javed issued these instructions.
He ordered the government to investigate high-rise structures while he was there to see if earthquake-resistant materials were being used.
He also warned that anyone using unconventional building materials would face harsh punishment.
Imran Qureshi, Director General of the PDMA, informed the relief commissioner of the earthquake and gave him the preliminary report.
Additionally, he requested that all districts submit information on the tools they have to handle such disasters.
