GT Road From Rawat To Katchery Chowk To Be Renamed: By NHA
Rawalpindi: According to a news source reported on March 21, 2023, the portion of the Grand Turk (GT) Road that connects Rawat T-Chowk with Kutchery Chowk has been renamed by National Highway Authority (NHA).
According to the announcement, this section of GT Road is named Potohar Avenue by NHA.
Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha mentioned this during a meeting to examine the work status of the Potohar Avenue renovation.
He added in his remarks to the conference attendees that this improvement in Potohar Avenue is to exhibit the regional culture.
The commissioner further stated that the district of Rawalpindi now has administrative control over the peri-urban union councils and the area from the Soan River Bridge to the Toyota Company Showroom.

According to the news source, the anti-encroachment operation began on February 24 and was primarily concerned with removing these peri-urban union councils.
In the initial phase of the anti-encroachment process, notices were delivered everywhere.
In its second stage, fines were levied. A total of PKR 700,000 in fines have been assessed thus far.
In the third phase, people who broke the law will have FIRs filed against them, and their property visible on the sidewalks, motorways, and streets will be taken.
